Why Support Planned Giving?

As a member of a congregation within Lutheran Church Canada, there are many opportunities available to share in the mission and ministry of the church, both locally and abroad. We do this by contributing our time, talents and treasures. For those whose passions are great, and who have the opportunity to become actively involved in a particular ministry, they often wish they had more time, talents or treasure, in order that they might contribute further. For others however, particularly outside their own congregation, due to work or family demands they have little time in which to contribute their talent, and so, throughout their life they contribute sacrificial gifts of their treasures to the work of these ministries. For both these individuals, there comes great joy with the realization that a strategic gift plan within their estate allows them to contribute to their chosen ministries, perhaps in a more significant manner, with only marginal impact to their estate’s value.
There are many reasons to support “Planned Giving”, both from the donor’s point of view and from the recipients. Please consider just these few:

• Without exception, every donor experiences the pure joy of giving back to God a portion of their life’s earthly blessings for the work of the church. This is not for acknowledgement or thanks from the chosen ministries, but simply a heartfelt thanks to God for all His many blessings received throughout their lifetime.
• Coupled with a statement of faith within your will, this is an opportunity to share with family, and perhaps friends, the things that are truly important to you - faith in Christ as your personal saviour, and a desire to share this message through the work of your chosen ministries.
• Regardless the economic conditions at any given time, every ministry desires to do more within their chosen area of ministry. Your gift will allow the work of your chosen ministries to expand or perhaps continue for many years after you’ve gone.
• For many individuals, a gift from the accumulated assets within their estate may be the first time that they have opportunity to give a significant gift, though they’ve desired to do so throughout their lifetime.
